So how does this work?

These are mostly private lessons

These classes are usually one-to-one private lessons!  This is the way people learn best.

Depending on your level of experience, an individual lesson will be tailored to your needs and what you want to learn.  The lessons go at your pace of learning.  Some people need more time to learn a skill, others pick up quickly.  This is why we prefer this model.

If you want to bring a friend or a significant other, that is fine and they are welcome to sign up with you. The only people who will be with your group are the ones you want to be there.  But I do limit the groups to 4 people (until we get into the more advanced shooting classes).

Having classes this way is preferred so we can focus all the attention on your individual needs and learning style.

There are no shooting ranges in Lake Mary

Many people find me by looking for a shooting range near where they live.  And as you know, there are no shooting ranges in this area.

Though our home office is in Lake Mary, we train and shoot at other ranges.  We have arranged classroom and range time usage at various local ranges.  These may include Shoot Straight in Casselberry, Shoot Straight in Apopka, Strickland Gun range and Volusia County Gun and Hunt Club.

We have flexibility on how our classes can be delivered.  The classroom portions can even be held at home but the shooting has to be at one of the ranges above.

Do I need to own a firearm?

You may not own a firearm yet or haven't decided what you want to purchase.  That is ok!  We have you covered.

Our school will provide a variety of firearms for you to try.  This includes single action revolvers, double action revolvers, full size semi-automatic handguns, compact semi-automatic, and even sub-compact (micro) semi-automatic handguns.   You can try them all to see which you enjoy most.  If you have your own firearm, you are also free to bring that as well.

Targets and use of safety equipment are also included.  The only part that is **NOT** included is the ammunition.  This can be purchased at the range or you can bring your own. Average cost is about $21-$25 for a box of 50 (no reloads or factory remanufactured).

The courses we offer

At Confidence Shooting School we believe in customizing your shooting and learning based on your individual needs.  Because of this, we offer a variety of courses and classes.

Handgun Basics:

This is our handgun basics course.  This 2 hour program starts from the very beginning. Here we will cover safety, loading/unloading, grip, stance, aiming, and finish the course with live fire practice and qualifications.  Those who have never held a firearm become comfrotable with the functions. At the end of this class you will receive a basic handgun certificate that can be used to apply for your concealed carry permit.

Owning Your First Gun/Home Defense:

This class is designed for beginners who are thinking about, or have just purchased, their first handgun.  This is a 2.5 hour course that covers safety, loading/unloading, grips, stance and aim, storage, transport, basic upkeep, and basic legalities of home defense. In addition, we help develop a home defense plan for your specific situation.  Some families do not plan on concealed carry but do want to keep their homes safe.  We spend 1.5 hours in the classroom learning and 1 hour of shooting on the range with live fire.

Defensive Basics:

This course is designed for those who have an understanding of the basics but are not looking for a full concealed carry course. You may have your concealed carry permit yet want more confidence. This is a 2 hour program that includes 1 hour class-time and 1 hour range time. The course covers safety, basics, defensive shooting techniques, drawing from a holster/reholstering (using replica firearms), clearing malfunctions, and scenario trainings.  We end with practicing a variety of shooting drills on the live fire range.

USCCA Concealed Carry Course/ Constitutional Carry Course:

This course is recommended for those who will be carrying their handgun.  It covers safety, bascis, legalities, responsibilities, physical response to danger, and how to defensively fire your handgun. Skills include drawing from the holster/re-holstering safely (using replica firearms), clearing malfunctions, and scenario trainings. This course is 3 hours and will mostly be In-Class time with shooting qualifications at the end. You will also recieve a USCCA certificate that may be used to apply for your concealed carry permit or keep for your records.

Realistic Self Defense:

After taking one of the above courses, a Realistic Self Defense would be the next step in training.  Here we are able to learn to draw from the holster and fire, shooting while moving, fire from various positions and engaging multiple targets.  This course will have a larger group of students.  *** Not Available at This Time; More information to come on availability ***
